Grilled Steak House Pizza with Chunky Blue Cheese Dressing

Steak House Salad Pizza

Two things I was craving for dinner the other day were steak and a salad. Rather than choosing between the two or having both separately, I decided to give them try in the form of a grilled pizza.

I figured the extra chunky blue cheese dressing I had in the fridge would be a perfect addition to the combination. And it did! The meal was hearty and filling all at the same time. Best of all, I was able to keep all the cooking heat outside while my house stayed nice and cool.

Recipe Type: Salads
Serves: 4 people
Ingredients
  • 3 cups romaine lettuce, rough chopped
  • ¾ cup cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 2 (4-6 oz) sirloin steaks
  • 1 (14 oz.) can pre-made pizza dough
  • 2 Tbl. olive oil
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • salt and pepper
Instructions
  1. Preheat the grill to a medium high flame. Season both sides of the steaks with salt and pepper. Cook the steak on the grill for 2-3 minutes on each side to desired temperature. Cooking time depends on the thickness of your steaks. Cover with foil and allow to rest before slicing.
  2. Meanwhile, unroll the pizza dough and brush both sides with olive oil. Cut the dough in quarter squares to make it easier to handle. Reduce the flame to a medium temperature. Gently lay the dough on the grill. Cover and allow to grill for 2 minutes. The dough should be slightly puffed and can easily be removed. Flip the dough and evenly distribute the shredded mozzarella cheese. Cover and cook for an additional 2 minutes. Remove from the grill.
  3. Slice the steak against the grain and on a bias. Evening distribute between the grilled pizzas. Toss the lettuce and tomatoes in the desired amount of dressing. Evening divide the salad on top of the sliced steak. Serves 4 people.
Author's Note
Consider giving your pizza a kick of flavor by sprinkling the dough with your favorite herbs before grilling the dough.
